Brian Ulrich on his book: “It’s been quite the year so far. My head has been spinning
since March when Lesley Martin, Andrew Sloat and I began editing,
designing, writing and compiling 10 years worth of photographs in earnest.
By May we had a concrete edit and design. In June I went on press to South China
to oversea the printing of the book with Amanda Freymann at Main Choice Press
in Dong Guan province. Finally this fall marks the publication of
Is This Place Great or What, a culmination of the last 10 years of the Copia
project. The book is comprised of the chapters, Retail, Thrift and Dark Stores
with an essay by Juliet Schor and made possible with the generous support
of Fred and Laura Bidwell, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Aperture Foundation.”
